FAQ

Do you do custom cakes?

We do not customise cakes unless for big celebrations and weddings with a minimum serving of 80 required.

We do not copy cake designs and only decorate intutively to our style using natural ingredients included in flavours; fruits, (edible) flowers and herbs. We do not use food colouring, fondants, or decorative items made from sugar and unknown ingredients.

Our smallest cake size is a 6" and can be ordered through the webshop. Any emails for smaller requests will not be addressed.

For wedding cakes, kindly refer to our tab concerning in the webshop. If you wish for a custom cake that is 3-tier or larger, click here to fill out our inquiry form and a team member will respond within 48 hours. Please note all custom orders need 1 month advance notice.

Do you take custom orders?

Similar to above, custom orders are only available for large catering numbers and events (minimum 80 servings), and must be ordered at least a month in advance with a deposit paid to confirm. Click here to fill out our inquiry form and a team member will respond within 48 hours.

Please note everything offered is available online for streamless ordering - if it is not online, we do not offer it and emails will not be addressed.

What if I have a food allergy or preference?

We cannot remove or substitute ingredients from our baked goods.

We've done our best to have something for everyone being completely gluten, dairy and refined sugar free with plenty of vegan options, as well as, paleo and keto. Our menu is ever-expanding seasonally!

If you have specific allergens, kindly check our ingredient list online to see what is safe for you to eat and/or ask our Barista’s/Servers.

Do you have anything that is nut-free?

As a dairy-free and largely vegan bakery, magarine is not an option to use due to health ramifications. Thus, we have traces of almonds in the majority of our products as our vegan butter is based on it alongside organic coconut and shea butter. We aim to reduce seed oils as much as possible and sticking to coldpressed extra virgin olive oil and minimal coldpressed extra virgin rapeseed oil for certain recipes.

Currently, the entirely nut-free options are:

1. Salted Tahini Brownies

2. Keto Toasted Coconut & Berries Loaf

3. Victoria Sponge Cake, Fig Compote, White Chocolate Ganache, Rose Jam & Fresh Figs

You can also get the Chocolate and Chiffon Cake varieties nut-free with a few alterations (noted under the item).

If any savouries are required nut-free, we can only do so for large catering orders.

As we note on our disclaimer: We cannot guarantee against cross contamination of or between nuts. Baked goods can be made without any nuts but could contain traces as nuts are used in the kitchen.

Can't find a specific item we had?

We are keen to follow nature. Thus, if you have a favourite you miss, please note if it's not online we are not offering it at the moment - but you will be seeing it again in future!

While we do have a few staple menu items that remain throughout the year, the majority is seasonal and changes on a quarterly basis.

Creating new recipes is what keeps our Founder creatively engaged and gives our chefs new opportunities for learning. We've also had people rave about every single recipe created so far and are committed to bringing fourth new favourites!

Stay curious and keep trying new flavours, we guarantee there are several you'll love!

What sugar do you use?

We use sources including Egyptian Medjool dates, organic maple, organic coconut, organic agave and organic unrefined demerara – minimally, simply to accentuate the natural produce already present.

While our founder believes that not all calories are created equal - she accounts sugar varieties as one and the same. Insisting they should be minimal in our diet regardless of source. For example, while different types of unrefined sweeteners can retain minor micronutrient content - it is a matter of quantity, bio-individuality, personal activity levels and mental/emotional states when consuming. We should be focused on whole foods to get our nutrition, and not desserts. Likewise, common sugar alcohols used in Keto baked goods that don't necessarily affect blood sugar as much can cause digestive distress and encourage sugar addiction thus, even when used in our products it is with care and minimally.

Our primary source of sweetness and flavour is derived from fruits and root vegetables, which we aim to honour as nature intended without much added sugar.

Can I substitute sugar in cakes?

For our cakes, we use minimal organic unrefined demerara as our primarily choice because it takes less amount of sugar overall, provides the best texture and is neutral in taste and colour. For example, our Shortcake varieties are sweetened with maple syrup yet, tastes much sweeter than the options with unrefined demerara.

We also created our cakes for celebrations and not every day meals as the rest of our pastry.

We are low sugar regardless of sweetener used and put the minimum required for structure and texture (as sugar is not merely for sweetening).

In particular, all our buttercreams require unrefined demerara to be stable or else they melt.

An idea of how much sugar is used: a 3 layer cake 8-inch cake (fits up to 16-18 people) takes no more than 3/4 cup of sugar.

We do not substitute sugar in any of our cakes unless for large catering orders. Substitutes also come at a higher price point.

Is everything low sugar?

We are passionate about keeping every baked good nutrient dense thus, keeping sugar low - regardless of sweetener used - is a cornerstone of our ethos.

For anyone that is struggling with blood sugar and/or insulin issues, we recommend stick to our savouries, keto loaves and tarts.

Do you offer private and corporate catering?

We do offer catering for private and corporate events. There are many options on our menu perfect for banquets or buffets. All of our tarts can be made as canapes and we also offer a wonderful selection of seasonal and best selling vegan salads. Click here to fill out our inquiry form and a team member will respond within 24 hours. Please note all custom orders need 1 month advance notice.

Do you take any last minute orders?

We are a micro, independent bakery focused on hand crafting our baked goods in small batches and reducing waste. Therefore, we do not have any whole cakes or tarts for last minute. Very rarely, on occasions, we will prepare one and announce it online.

For orders requested a day before, kindly call the bakery for them to check with the kitchen if anything can be available for the following day - busy periods (holidays and summer) we are not able to fulfil last minute orders. Please note, if and when we can - we only cater to the flavours and sizes we serve upstairs in the bakery that is only 8 inch tarts and cakes, we cannot cater to smaller or bigger.

How early in advance should I order?

We need a minimum of 3 days in advance for orders.

Custom catering orders for events or corporate require a minimum month in advance.

Do you take bookings at the bakery?

We do not take bookings, rather operate on a first come, first served basis as many people come from far to try our food.

Our bakery space is intentionally small and intimate to enable connection and also, discourage the cafe and lounging on screens culture.

The space features two coffee tables able to seat up to 3 people each and two stools facing our display counter.

If the weather permits, we highly encourage grabbing a takeaway and taking a 5-minute walk to Kensington Palace Gardens or Hyde Park!

Do you do delivery?

Yes, however, we only deliver orders with £200 as a minimum amount plus a £35 delivery charge, on Thursdays and Saturdays from 12-4 pm, and exclusively to London Zone 1 areas.

Our team is small (we’d have to send out a member personally) and we do not currently have our own transportation, therefore, the cost to deliver is higher.

We are also on Deliveroo however, note prices are higher than in store due to charges.

Are you celiac safe?

We serve many happy, grateful celiacs.

All our food is completely gluten free (as well as dairy and refined sugar free). We guarantee no cross contamination on site as our food is made in our Kensington kitchen, which is a dedicated space. We do not have any gluten on site. We do our due diligence to source the purest of ingredients that avoid cross contamination.

Our founder has also been eating free-from for almost two decades due to intolerances and approaches allergens with the utmost seriousness.

Are you vegan?

No. We are allergen-friendly, albeit 80% of our menu is vegan.

Any label with a “V” in store stands for vegan.

Is your food Halal?

Yes! We use chicken that is free-range and halal. Our Angus beef and lamb are grass fed and halal as well.

Rarely, we use halal beef gelatine in desserts (just one item).

What flours do you use?

Our supplier is Shipton Mill. All the flours used are organic and whole-grain gluten-free. We create all our flour blends from scratch using whole grains: brown rice, millet, sorghum, and buckwheat.
